I think it's definitely time to bring the mutton chops back.

  • Description: Mutton chops are large sideburns that are attached to the sides of the face, extending from the hairline to below the ears and worn with an unbearded chin. They were very popular in the nineteenth century and are perfect for reenactors.
  • Colors:  Black, Brown #6, Lt. Grey #51, Dark Grey #44, White
  • Fiber:  Synthetic fiber/ human hair blend. Hand tied hair on fine lace. 7’’ long- 3’’ wide.
  • Must be applied using spirit gum or toupee tape.
  • Manufacturer: Garland Beauty Products
  • Note: These muttonchop sideburns does not have adhesive. It can be attached with spirit gum or toupee tape. If you choose spirit gum, don’t forget the remover.
  • Trivia: Nineteenth century sideburns were often far more extravagant than those seen today, similar to what are now called mutton chops, but considerably more extreme. In period literature, "side whiskers" usually refers to this style, in which the whiskers hang well below the jaw line.  As with beards, sideburns went quickly out of fashion in the early twentieth century.
